More Brain Storming ahead

Melissa has come up with a great idea for a new workshop. So, this weekend I am headed down to Etobicoke for a weekend of work and brainstorming. I love to watch how Melissa is growing and more sure of herself and her ideas.

My other daughter, Nicole, wrote an amazing poem and sent it in for a contest. She is one of the semi-finalists. Her poem is called "As I Gaze Through the Windows in Your Eyes". I shall have to ask Nicole if I can post her poem on my blog. I am so proud of her.

It seems my Granddaughter, Olivia is being true to the statement of "the terrible two's". Oh the joys of being a parent. The joy of being a grandmother is I can sit back and say, "Yes, I remember those days."

Anyway, I shall write more next week. Russ has just called through to say that breakfast is on the table. I am so truly blessed in my life.

Back on Track

Things have been fairly hectic since I last wrote on my blog.

My son got married Sept. 22nd. It was a great wedding. Of course, in my eyes, my granddaughter Olivia was the star of the whole event.

Two weeks after wedding Melissa and I did our first Health and Wellness show in Shakespeare. Sold a few things, some Law of Attraction Affirmation Cards, and managed to do a fair bit of networking. Because of the close proximity we spent the weekend in Stratford. And what is a visit to Stratford without a visit to Rheo Thompsons for Chocolate? Mmmmm... Those mint smoothies are the best! And of course, dark chocolate is a detoxifier, so it is healthy!

Two weeks later found me at my high school reunion. I showed up armed with pictures of Olivia, and my 3 children, of course, and a stack of business cards. What a great place to nextwork! Met up with some old friends and took a wonderfull stroll down memory lane. And, as much as I enjoyed it, I sure was glad to get back home to my present life. I love our home in the country and wouldn't trade it for anything.

So, now back to reality. I started teaching night classes at the local high school this year. I am really enjoying it. So far I have taught, The Law of Attraction and a course on Self Coaching using The Brain Walk. This Thursday I start teaching a course in Self Awareness.

Last Monday evening I was the guest speaker at a fundraising event for Marillac Place in Kitchener. It is an organization I believe in. The are connected to St. Vincent De Paul and help mother-led families. They teach these young moms how to provide for themselves and their babies. In order to stay at Marillac Place these young women must complete their high school education. I believe very strongly in their principles and what they stand for.

In Dec. I shall be the guest speaker for Women in Business in Kincardine. This will be my 3rd time speaking for them and is something I am looking forward to.

Well, Melissa has now finished the first step in becoming a certified power coach. I always wondered what it would be like to have one of my childred follow in my footsteps. Now I know, and love every minute of it.

Feb. 3 to 9th/2008 is International Coaching Awareness week. Melissa and I are already planning a workshop for Saturday, Feb. 9th. We even have one of our guest speakers lined up. I will keep you in touch with our progress on this project.

Need to get ready to go grocery shopping, or else we will be wondering what to have for lunch.

A new logo for Fastrac

Change is always good, whether you realize it at the time or not. Change always comes with growth. Fastrac Coaching & Leadership is a sister company to M&L Ideas & Co. Fastrac looks after the coaching side of business and M&L looks after what I refer to as the 'logically creative' stuff.

With the new look for our website came a new logo for Fastrac, a great new look. A face lift of sorts, you might say.

Life has been hectic and I have not had as much time as I would like to put into the business during the month of August. But all things for a reason, I am sure.

September is upon us. My son, Michael, is getting married this month. At the end of September I start teaching night classes.

October is my high school reunion. Can't wait for that one! It is amazing how everyone else has aged. Boyfriends from a bygone era are now middle aged men with gray hair (or no hair) and pot bellies. Have I really aged that much as well? Of course not! I am sure we will all be thinking that very thing.

Melissa starts her courses in coachin this month. I know she will do well.

Well, back to work!

article revised

The best thing about not leaving things to the last minute is you still have a chance to make changes. After our brainstorming session yesterday, we had to do a re-write on our article for MarketPlace so it would include some of our new ideas.

When psychic Mary Lynn Stevenson predicted 2007 would be a year of change and economic growth, little did she realize how much it would impact her own life.

While earning her certification as a Power Coach ® from Coaching and Leadership International Inc, Lynn approached her daughter, Melissa with an idea. To create a business whose mission is to assist people in personal and professional development; to help them attain their goals.

M&L Ideas & Co. was born. Melissa and Lynn joined together their unique talents, and now promote positive and creative, unilateral thinking.

Hosting a variety of services ,M&L Ideas & Co. has set forth to make an impact. Working with groups of all sizes, Lynn and Melissa are putting forth the message of how each individual person can make positive change in their life.

Along with our workshops, Road to Success, and keynote speaking, M&L Ideas & Co. have created The Brain Walk ® Parties which are designed for smaller groups in a more relaxed setting. Guests will learn how to use this self coaching tool daily to work through issues and challenges to achieve success in all areas of their lives.

Fastrac Coaching and Leadership. a partner of M&L, offers individual coaching sessions and personalized packages. Coaching is an ongoing partnership that helps clients find fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives

M&L Ideas & Co. are available to host parties and workshops in your area. To book a coach session, The Brain Walk ® party or a workshop in your area, contact Lynn & Melissa at 000-0000, or visit us online at http://www.ml-ideas.com/. Also, visit our website to find out more about our upcoming workshop in Waterloo.

I will be so glad when our website is up and running. My current website is http://www.marylynnstevenson.com/, but, that has nothing to do with coaching or M&L Ideas & Co.

My church is having a garden party next Tues, so I have lots of work to do to help with organizing it. Most of today will be spent on that.

Our first workshop

Well, yesterday we did our first workshop. We didn't have as many people as we has hoped, but the workshop went very well. It was a good learning for both Melissa and myself. We know know some things we will do differently the next time.

One of the best comments on the evaluation form was "What I learned about myself today: That I can do more in life than I know I can. This workshop is a very good idea, especially for struggling people." Sure says a lot for us!

Melissa and I did some brainstorming today and came up with some great ideas. We are still fine tuning them, so I will update in a few days when we know more.

advertising

When you start up a new company it is important to get the word out there that you exist. Advertising comes in various forms. One of those vehicles is a local magazine called Market Place. You can write your own add or they will write it for you. Melissa opted to write the article for us. I think she did a pretty good job. See what you think...

Earlier this year I bought a ticket for Cash for Cancer. Lo and behold I won a golf bag! Thing is, I don't golf anymore. I thought about filling the bottom of the golf bag with rocks and sticking a plant in the top, a rather unique planter. I then decided to find out about any fundraising in the community so I could donate the golf bag to raise some money for a worthy cause.

While in Kincardine this morning I dropped into the local radio station, The Coast FM to set up a time to me to go on the radio to talk about the Garden Party our church in having the 17th of this month. I found out that there is some fundraising going on for the Special Olympics. What a great cause! So I have found a home for my golf bag! And on top of that, as soon as I mentioned that Melissa and I started a new business, I was told we can talk about it on the radio next Friday! Free advertising! Excellent!! The golf bag will be donated by M&L Ideas & Co.

It just goes to prove, when you give to the community, something good always comes back your way.

My first blog

Age can be a funny thing. Most people my age are looking forward to retirement. A lot of people say, 'I'm to old to start something new.' Last year I went back to school to become a Power Coach. I passed my exam this year with a 93%! I am now a Certified Power Coach. The best part? I am starting a whole new journey with my daughter Melissa. Together we created M&L Ideas & Co.

Melissa started her blog at the beginning of our adventure. You can check it out at http://evenmorefreshideas.blogspot.com.

I wrote a posting for Melissa's blog last night and decided I needed one of my own. This way we can each give our own perspective of what is going on.

We are doing our first workshop as a team this weekend (July 7/07) at the Queen's Inn in Stratford, Ontario. It starts at 10 am and goes through to 3pm. We even take time for lunch. I will be speaking in the morning about the Law of Attraction, how to bring abundance into our lives. In the afternoon, we are honoured to have Anny Tenbult as our guest speaker. Anny will be teaching how to self coach with a wonderful tool called The Brain Walk. The Brain Walk was created by CLI (Coaching and Leadership International) Anny has over 25 years experience in coaching, training, teaching, management and sales. Anny is also a Certified Power Coach.

Melissa has arranged an interview for me on the radio in Stratford on Friday morning at 8:30. She has put a lot of effort into our upcoming workshop and I am very proud of her.

In October we will have a booth at the Fall Health Fair in Shakespeare. I will tell more about that at a closer date.

As for now, I am just very excited about our new venture and have all the confidence that we will be successfull.
